He's Franklin Vanderbilt Jr.
Royal Prince Franklin Vanderbilt Jr.
Il a joué pour stevie wonder et chaka khan, il sera désormais aux côtés de lenny...
Born in Chicago Franklin Vanderbilt Jr. grew up in a family that cherished and believed in music. His Grandmother gave him his first name, Royal-Prince. She assured his success and prophesied his destiny at birth. At the age of 5 years, Franklin officially began to play drums. Mostly self-taught, Franklin played in church and school, and received numerous awards and accolades from local, city, and state organizations. His teenage years advanced him to mastering reading and writing music, and learning other percussion instruments, which evolved into performing professionally.
After high school, Franklin started teaching private lessons to elementary school students as well as adults. These teaching experiences helped Franklin realize that teaching was another one of his passions. At Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, he taught military drum & bugle techniques, which resulted in the school winning First Place in the May 1998 competition. His music education continued at Eastern Illinois University under the renowned percussion professor Jonny Lee Lane. Franklin’s local and national experience provided him with the foundation for putting together his own band "The Franklin Vanderbilt Experience". While Franklin was teaching during the day, he would jam at night. His extraordinary talent, undying drive, and passion have given him the opportunity to play with legendary jazz and blues greats such as Ramsey Lewis, Erwin Helfer, Chico Freeman, Clark Terry, and many others.
Franklin’s musical talent soars above his years of age. As he is building his television, film and radio experience and working on his own rock project, he continues to perform worldwide with legendary artists such as Stanley Clarke, Chaka Khan, and most recently the Eighth Wonder of the World, Stevie Wonder. He also devotes time to teach drums at a children’s performing arts academy named “A Place Called Home”, and has recently returned from South America touring with Rock guitarist extraordinaire Richie Kotzen (formally with Mr. Bigg and Poison). Franklin’s talent and supersized energy attract many new artists. His versatility, un-matched attention to detail and rare “musical ears” have him on a path where the sky is his limit. Franklin is on a rise to fame not only nationally, but also internationally. He is definitely among the most sought after young drummers.
Chaka Khan Quote
On Royal Prince Franklin Vanderbilt, Chaka Khan states:
“Franklin is definitely the best young drummer I have ever had.” (2005)
Stanley Clark Quote
On Royal Prince Franklin Vanderbilt, Stanley Clarke states:
"FRANKLIN VANDERBILT IS ONE OF THE BEST YOUNG DRUMMERS ON THE SCENE TODAY" (2005)
